35 Weeks - 9 Months

I've officially started my 9th month of pregnancy!

Size: A coconut! According to thebump.com, she's about 17.2-18.7 inches & weighs about 4.2-5.8 lbs. My big girl is measuring on the high end. At our appointment last week she was measuring 5lbs 11oz. Yep, 5oz from a 6 pounder already & at that time I still had 6 weeks to go. The tech said if I go full-term she'll likely be between 8 & 9 lbs. Whaaaaattttt?????

Major happenings this week: Her hearing is fully developed & she responds best to high-pitched noises.

Sleep: Great! I think I've finally mastered what works for me!

Miss Anything: Nothing.

Food Cravings: Nothing specific.

Bellybutton in or out? Out

Wedding rings on or off? On

Gender: Girl!

What's been happening: Ryan had a great birthday! We started the celebration at work with his 2nd favorite cake, Raspberry Elegance from Publix. (You can't get strawberry cake from the Sweetery very easily around here).

We had another shower this past weekend in Lexington and it was wonderful, just like all the others. We're still so overwhelmed with how many people are showing us love right now. Our parents + Ryan's sister were able to come into town and it was wonderful having everyone together!

At our last appointment we were required to get an ultrasound because my belly was measuring so big the week before. The tech confirmed that I do have some extra fluid around the baby & the baby is measuring a little big. Neither of these things are bad (we'd rather have extra fluid than not enough), and if Miller continues to measure ahead, she may come early! We have to get another ultrasound tomorrow to check on my fluid levels & her growth. I can't wait to see her again!

I can't remember if I've written about this or not, but here's the last thing (and this is kind of weird). About 5 weeks ago I started hearing a "clicking" sound coming from my belly. The best way I can describe it is a piece of plastic popping or fingernails clicking together. It's always faint, but Ryan and my mom have also heard it. I called my doctor to let her know & she said she'd never heard of it before. I, of course, did some research online & some other women have heard the same sound. Their doctors think it's either the baby's joints popping or an air bubble popping in my belly. I'm really not surprised. I've ALWAYS told people that I have thin skin. This is my proof!
Looking forward to: Our appointment tomorrow to see if Hercules is still large & in charge. Also, we're planning to finish the nursery this weekend, so I can't wait to get it done & post about it!

Anxious about: Still, getting everything done in time. I know she won't know or care either way, but it would put my mind at ease.
After the labor & delivery class we half-way attended on Saturday (we left with 4 hours left because I was over it), I should be anxious about being in labor. Why don't they ever make videos of women who give births with an epidural? Sheesh. Scare the pants off a pregnant lady, much?

First Shower

I had an amazing first shower on February 9th. My sister, best friend and mom put together a beautiful day and we received so many wonderful gifts for our daughter! Here are some snap shots from the day.

There were over 50 people at the shower, so I opened gifts for a solid hour. Miller is  blessed to be loved by so many people already! Thanks again to everyone!

34 Weeks

Size: A butternut squash. She's about 4.2-5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. We'll get a better estimate tomorrow when we go for our ultrasound.
Major happenings this week: She's recognizing & reacting to simple songs and she may find them familiar & soothing after birth. Look out, Mariah. She's also urinating about a pint a day. How gross is that??
Sleep: Great!

Miss Anything: Nothing.

Food Cravings: None.

Gender: Girl!

What's been happening: We've had two showers and have gotten so much great stuff for our baby girl. Her room is quickly filling up, so I'm trying to stay as organized as possible. We're still waiting on her glider & crib mattress, so once we have those I'll post pictures of the nursery.

I have pictures from both of our showers, but sitting down to actually go through them will be the hard part. All I want to do right now is get the house ready for her arrival & our visitors.

Looking forward to: Ryan's birthday tomorrow! Plus, we get to have an ultrasound because I was measuring so far ahead at the last appointment. I guess Miller wanted to see her Daddy on his birthday! Also, our 3rd shower is this Sunday. I'm still overwhelmed by the number of people that want to be a part of this amazing experience and I'm so grateful for everything.

Anxious about: Getting the house ready in time. Of course, we've waited until the last minute to do a lot of things, so I feel like we're scrambling right now.

33 Weeks - Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day! If you've been following the blog from the beginning, you may remember my rant from last year. This year, I'm not boycotting Valentine's Day. No-sir-re. I'm embracing it to the fullest extent. This means working late, and probably eating pizza with my favorite man in the world. No expensive night out or jewelry. Nope, we're going to do it our way so I will actually enjoy this ridiculous holiday.

I'm actually 33 weeks + 1 day today. Ryan has been in Illinois since Sunday and I stayed with my parents, so I wasn't able to post yesterday.

Now onto the stats for our littlest Valentine...

Size: A durian. Not a clue what this is either? Google it - it's cute! She weighs about 4.2-5.8 lbs. and measures about 17.2-18.7 inches. She may grow up to a full inch this week!

Major happenings this week: She's keeping her eyes open while awake & her bones are hardening.

Sleep: Much, much better this week!

Miss Anything: Same 'ole, same 'ole.

Food Cravings: I love it all!

What's been happening: Our first shower was this past Saturday and my mom, sister & best friend did a FANTASTIC job with everything
. Ryan's mom & sister couldn't come because they had to attend the funeral and we missed them greatly.

We had a wonderful shower and got so many great things. I can't wait to get the pictures from my sister & post about it!

Looking forward to: Our 2nd shower this weekend with my closest college girlfriends. I love them & have missed them so much!

** Side note - I just came from my 33 week appointment. My belly is measuring 36 weeks, which can mean one of 3 things: 1) The baby's position was making me measure ahead; 2) the baby is BIG; 3) I have extra fluid. The doctor scheduled an ultrasound for me next Thursday (Ryan's birthday!), so we'll find out the verdict then. I did happen to mention to her that we were both pretty big babies (Ryan was 10lbs 5oz). I'll post an update after we find out what's going on.

Miller's heart rate was perfect & my blood pressure was great, so no matter what the ultrasound tells us next week, the doctor wasn't concerned at all.

32 Weeks - 8 Months

Size: A squash. She's about 2.5-3.8 lbs & measures 15.2-16.7 inches.

Major happenings this week: Nothing new in the baby department this week, but lots of new things in our lives.

We entered into the 8th month of pregnancy this week!

Sleep: Not good.

Miss Anything: Sleep & exercise

Food Cravings: Everything tastes so good right now, so I try not to discriminate. Sorry, mom, still hating vegetables.

What's been happening: We got a call this morning letting us know that Mr. Calvin, Charles' dad, passed away early this morning. It's hard to comprehend, for sure, but the only assurance right now is knowing that Mr. Calvin is whole again. He's not in pain or fighting a terrible disease. He got to meet our wonderful Jesus face to face, and that brings a lot of peace.

Please keep the Melton family in your prayers as they start to cope with their new reality.

Looking forward to: Our first shower this weekend! I can't wait to see so many of the people I love!
