38 Week Update

So after all of the sulking I did at 3:00 this morning, I had a great 38 week checkup today! The baby has dropped (hooray!), I'm now 4cm dilated & they're estimating he weighs 8lbs 7oz. Holy freakin moly. Miller was only 8lbs 8ozs when she was born at 40 weeks. We've got a big boy on our hands (or currently, on my bladder.)

The doctor said it could be any day now, so I'm counting on that! Maybe I will actually get to experience what it's like to go into labor on my own, but we kept the induction date of next Tuesday just in case.

We're enjoying our last few quiet nights for a while and patently waiting on Price until he's ready (or until we force him out on the 28th.)

I might miss my TV tray... Maybe just a little

Life Lately

It's 2:45am. I'm currently lying in bed, counting inconsistent contractions & wondering if I'll ever know what it's like to go into labor on my own. Doubtful. It's Monday, July 20th. I started my 38th week of pregnancy yesterday and I'm scheduled to be induced on the 28th if Price hasn't come on his own. You see, in addition to big bellies, I also make big babies and the doctor wants to give me a chance to deliver Price, rather than me go full-term and almost guarantee a c-section. I may never know the rush, excitement & fear of going into labor out of the blue & unannounced, but for now I need to be okay with that.

On another note... Here's what's been happening in our lives lately.

The sweetest friends in the world (our village) threw us a little party to celebrate Price at the Pine Island Club. Such a best place on Lake Murray!

We trusted the dads to watch the kids so the moms could take a break. They were supposed to be on the playground, but we looked out the window & found them all swimming in the lake, FULLY CLOTHED! This wouldn't have been so bad if anyone had been prepared to bring a change of clothes.

Luckily, because of Miller's potty training, I still carry around a spare & some undies, so we were set.

Not long into the party, the kids were being silly and running around, trying to escape out the doors of the cabin we were in. Unfortunately, Miller's fingers were shut in the door & she broke her thumb. It was fairly traumatic for both her & me, but she was a trooper at the ER, especially when she had to get the cast on. We were very fortunate to be at the lake with two surgeons. One followed us to the ER & put the cast on. Praise Jesus for friends in the business!

She sleeps great at night with it on, but she gets very frustrated with it during the day. We're so ready to get this thing off!

On Friday, we experienced the lowest temps of the week (95*), so we went to the zoo that morning.

And then there's this..

Ryan and I have both been thinking it for a while, but have been too afraid to say it out loud. We got it so wrong with the exterior paint color on our house.

Once we saw the shakers painted that light taupe-y color, we were finally able to admit it. We needed the whole house (shakers & hardie board) this lighter color.

This was the house we feel in love with at first site when we were in the planning stages. See how much lighter the paint is? So... Operation paint the house is underway. I'm sure our builder loves us right now.

In the meantime, the first coat of primer is up on all of the walls. Paint is next!

Miller helped Daddy cut the grass on Saturday. The look is both functional & stylish. #safetyfirst

She sleeps well at night, but has been falling asleep in the car in the late afternoon after she pitches a huge fit. Lord, please let us get that cast off soon!

That's all for now! Hopefully we'll have a new baby, a cast-free two-year-old and a new color on the house soon!

Life Lately

I'm officially full term! I hit 37 weeks this past Sunday & have been going strong ever since trying to induce labor (with no luck.) I celebrated the 37 week milestone with a sweet "sprinkle" hosted by my amazing sister & best friend. I got to see so many old friends from the Upstate & we received some great gifts.

At my 37 week checkup, my belly was measuring 40 weeks. The doctor wasn't able to check my progress because Miller was with me & she didn't want to traumatize Mills. At 36 weeks, I was 3cm & 80% effaced. Hoping for more progress at my 38 week checkup next week. If he hasn't come on his own, I'll be induced July 28th (39 weeks, 2 days.)

This is the only picture I have on my phone from the shower. Thanks to my amazing mom for opening her home for the celebration. I know she did a ton even though she won't take credit for anything!

Do you love Timehop as much as I do? This picture popped up the day of my shower. This is Jamie, me & Katie at my lingerie shower SIX years prior! Now there's almost 6 kids between us.

On Saturday morning we celebrated my nephew Jake's 5th birthday with a fun TMNT pool party!

Thank goodness Miller was there to "help" open presents.

Miller got brave last week & jumped off the diving board for the first time. Now we can't stop her!

She & Ryan have taken their stunting to a whole new level!

Everyone enjoys the pool during July!

Once the guests left we really took over the pool for some fun

I sat out pool time in hopes of getting an anniversary date that night to celebrate 6 wonderful years of marriage. What I got was overheated & a night on the couch eating takeout with everyone around. Happy Anniversary, sweetheart??

We had a wonderful weekend with family & friends!

House Update

Things are moving along outside! There's lots of hardie board & some more stone.

Each piece of stone is added by hand, so this part is taking a while.

There's a ton more Sheetrock inside & the downstairs looks completely different.

Here's the kitchen

And the living room. Eeek!!

Life Lately & House Update

We're about 2.5 months into our house build & I cannot believe how fast this is going! Our builder originally wanted to have us in sometime in December, but now he's expecting November. Hooray!

Stone will cover the front of the garage & the front porch. They recently started putting it up & I love it! This was, by far, the most nerve-wracking decision we've had to make.

Some of the framing/trim has gone up. We're going with a craftsman style.

Drywall in the playroom

Miller's room. I love all of the character in her room!

We chose stairs with a landing 1/2 way down, that way if a kid falls, he/she only falls half way. Smart, huh?

Downstairs looks pretty much the same - waiting on drywall.

Can't wait to turn this into a kitchen!

You can barely tell from this picture, but we have a small lake view from the front porch & an even better one from the front yard.

July 4th was pretty laid back for us. Ryan is still making me rest a lot, so Friday night we celebrated 3 girls' birthdays. Piper turned 2 on the 3rd, her cousin Durham will turn 6 on the 9th & Durham's sister Hyatt will turn 3 in August. Smart to roll that into one party!

Piper & Miller. The big two year olds!

Hyatt, who's almost 3 with Miller.

Right after cupcakes, so they're happy!

The kids took a dip in the lake

And got to hold their very own sparklers!

On Saturday we hung out at the house for a bit & had a picnic on our new back porch.

On Sunday we went to church, then to the pool. What a fun weekend celebrating our country's freedom!
